Northern Valley Youth Orchestras presents the final concert of its 5th season, Something Old, Something New. Taking the stage March 12th at 3 pm, “Hollywood Through The Ages” features the three orchestras of NVYO with added guest professionals and alumni performing works spanning a century of film music. Tickets are available at the door: general admission tickets are $5, students 12 and under are free.
Selections include classics like Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances and selections from Carmen, scores written specifically for such films as Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, and Pirates of the Caribbean, and the premiere of NVYO high school senior Jared Hollingworth’s programmatic composition “Loss.” Area professionals, NVYO section coaches, and alumni will join forces with NVYO Symphony to present a musical tribute to legendary film composer John Williams.
