The UND Art Collections at the Empire Arts Center will open a new show Monday, April 18. You are invited to an opening reception and public preview from 4:30-7 p.m. This show focuses on Chester Fritz (1892-1983), who donated over 2.25 million dollars to UND, including funds for a library and auditorium that both bear his name. Born in Buxton, North Dakota, he became prosperous while residing in Shanghai’s international settlement. Featuring art and photography within the context of Fritz’s life stories, the exhibition provides fascinating insights into the cosmopolitan culture of early 20th century Shanghai. Refreshments will be served. The Empire Arts Center is located on 415 DeMers Avenue. This show will run from April 18-July 28, 2016.
